     Department: Economic Affairs Department

     Reporting Relationship: Project Manager of QNV   

Qualifications – Education and Experience:

1. A PhD in Economics or a Masters degree from an internationally recognized university.

2. Expertise in one or more of the following areas: public sector economics, governance or development planning.

3. Ten years working experience five of them with government or an international organization, or in a consultancy organization providing services to the public sector.

4. Strong client orientation and experience in successful stakeholder engagement and communication.

5. Track record of high performance in current or previous positions.

6. Experience and exposure to the Middle East region, particularly countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, would be advantageous.


 

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Play a key role in the Qatar National Vision project, in terms of the formulation, drafting and implementation of national economic strategies and plans.

2. Provide analytical support and advice to public sector institutions in the formulation of their own development strategies.

3. Contribute to GSDP and external publications and assist in raising the national, regional and global profile of GSDP through participation in seminars and conferences.

4. Monitor relevant developments in the global knowledge community and provide advice to GSDP leadership on current issues and trends of relevance to Qatar.

5. Transfer skills to Qatari staff and mentoring and coaching of junior colleagues.

6. Select, provide oversight, and manage the work of outside consultants.

7. Manage and evaluate performance of direct reports.

8. Other activities and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Economic Affairs Department.

1. Demonstrated ability to lead small, high powered teams and manage complex projects.

2. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English and preferably Arabic.

3. Strong analytical capabilities, demonstrated through publications, reports, and peer group recognition.
